The Battery often runs out of Power! In such a Case, Let’s Inspect the “Power Generation and Charging System”! | News

The battery tends to run up! There are many factors that can cause this.
Here, let us focus on how to reconfirm the basic functions of the electrical system. What is the condition of the power output from the engine itself (generator) and the condition after the current voltage is regulated by the regulator/rectifier? We used an electrical tester to measure and confirm.

  2. Let’s measure the battery terminal voltage at idling.
  3. Idle => Voltage display fluctuates when RPM rises

Today, various manufacturers offer high-performance testers at low prices. This digital clamp meter is compact, but it can also measure DC amperage by changing the selector in the clamp mode. The ability to measure conditions with a clearly defined role makes it easier to ascertain fault conditions. For example, the ability to measure DC-amperes (DC-A) makes it possible to clarify the detailed battery environment. For example, is there any unnecessary discharge? etc.

Let’s measure the battery terminal voltage at idling.

The terminal voltage of the battery itself was measured. Even while idling, 13.5 volts DC was recorded. This number varies depending on the battery condition and must be taken into account. In an infinitely fully charged situation, the voltage rarely exceeds 13 volts.
Another problem is that the voltage is below 12 volts, even though the battery is a 12-volt battery. In other words, the battery is running high. The battery is running high.

When I turned on the headlight switch = lights while idling, the battery terminal voltage dropped to 13.08 volts. Then, when the engine speed was increased, it rose to 15.18 volts.
With the lights on = load condition, the output voltage must be set to increase because a stable power source is needed. That is what the regulator/rectifier does.
