What is the head gasket ?

The head gasket is a type of seal made of graphite cards with layers of steel or copper that lies between the engine cylinders and the respective engine head.

Its main function is to serve as a watertight between the cylinders and the engine head so that there is no mixture of fluids circulating there, such as oil, fuel and coolant.

It is responsible for ensuring the sealing of the combustion chambers of the cylinders and the engine lubrication cooling circuits.

This is an essential piece and for that has an above average resistance.

You must ensure that it is in a good condition, otherwise there is a risk of a mixture of fluids in the engine causing several potential damages to the engine.
